This Privacy Statement applies solely to the use of the Online Shop owned and operated by VASCO Data Security International GmbH (“VASCO,” “We” or “Us”) and describes how We collect, transfer, disclose, or process and use personally identifiable information, including personal data (collectively: “Information”) obtained from users of the Online Shop at http://shop.vasco.com/  (“Site”).

Information collected through the Site

When you visit the Site and access its pages, We at VASCO – acting as responsible data controller – collect  the following Information about you and your use of the Site:

“Active” information that you disclose to Us through the Site when you place an order include your name and status title, invoice and shipping address, e-mail address, products you order, marketing permissions, as well as information on the credit card name, number and billing address disclosed to the Payment Service Provider when you authorize payment for your purchase.  

“Passive” information We receive through the Site include: site activity data referring to how you enter and leave the Site, how you navigate to and leave the pages and links you visit on the Site, your product preference indicated by the number of times and the length of time you view a product, your length of stay on any part of the Site, your location, IP address, and the type of browser you use.

Passive information does not identify you to Us by name, and We do not link your IP address to your personally identifiable information. We may store passive information for the purpose of determining effective click-path flow, to test and improve user experience of the Site and related usage for internal purposes.

We receive “passive” information using the following data collection techniques:

“Cookies” are small text files sent from the Site to your hard drive to store bits of information related to you. While cookies can store user information such as IP addresses, navigational data, server information, data transfer times, user preferences, and passwords needed to access the special areas on the Site, We use cookies only to keep track of the products you order. If you place an online order, we will use cookies to store  personal and shipping information you provide. VASCO collects these Information to facilitate the delivery of VASCO products, to communicate with users and respond to inquiries, to tailor the user experience on the Site, and to protect VASCO from fraud or other inappropriate conduct.

We disclose, transfer, process and use the Information as further specified in the following:

When you visit the Site to place an order, We will process and use your Information as legally permitted or as requested by you to manage your order or download information.

We may also disclose and transfer the Information to IT providers, fulfillment houses, and other subcontractors that assist, as maintenance providers of the Site, as processors of your order, your personal information, and your payment, respectively, with the operation of the Site and/or the associated business transactions.

We may also disclose and transfer the Information, subject to the requirements of applicable law, where necessary or appropriate to protect the security of the Site, to protect Our affiliates or others against liability, and/or in connection with the sale or transfer of all or part of the business. In addition, the Information may be used and disclosed to verify your compliance with the VASCO Standard Terms and Conditions.

Processing and use of the Information for marketing purposes, commercial communication

Persons who submit Information on the Site will be added to Our internal mailing list and may be provided with similar product information and other commercial communication from VASCO via target marketing activities, when permitted by applicable laws and regulations.

In accordance with applicable laws and regulations, We may also disclose and transfer the Information to VASCO commercial partners or distributors and resellers for marketing purposes who can provide you with further information about VASCO’s products or services.

If you consent to the receipt of commercial communication, you may withdraw this consent at any time and without stating reasons, by sending an e-mail to the following address vos.support@vasco.com, in which case you will receive no further commercial communication.

Pursuant to applicable laws and regulations, We maintain reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the Information against accidental or unlawful destruction or accidental loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure or access.
